Checked out for awhile

In the time I was gone I rode a rental Dutchie in Amsterdam, visited a miniature museum in Hamburg, saw an authentic part of the Berliner Mauer and took my first space a flight across the Atlantic to visit family in MD.

We went to MD so hubs could run in the Tough Mudder. We went shooting at the family farm and also rented Mountain Bikes and hit the Patapsco State Park to ride the trails. This was the first time I was allowed to go and I LOVED it. I’m hooked and saving for a Mountain Bike. I’ll post pictures of everything soon 🙂

Coconut Oil as Deodorant

TMI WARNING!!! 🙂 I warned you.

I did a little experiment today. I used Coconut Oil for deodorant. My interest was piqued because of a post in a cloth diaper group yesterday where it was stated that coconut oil is antibacterial and antifungal. Now in times of sweaty distress in the past I have used hand sanitizer as deo. With all this info I wondered if Coconut Oil would work. I typically can’t use “normal” deodorant due to chemical sensitivities. So how did it turn out? Amazing! I don’t stink AT ALL. I’m not even that sweaty. Since it’s only been one day I’m not 100% sold on it yet but by the end of the week I’ll know for sure. I’m impressed today though. I really like the idea of aluminum and fragrance free deodorant that actually works. I wonder why coconut oil isn’t in more natural deodorant?

July of Change

I only rode to the commissary and back today. It’s almost 3k round trip. The time in the photo I think was my total time including shopping.

I am joining forces with Lindsay over at You Ain’t Got Jack for a “July of Change”. I think her rules are a little different than mine but mine are as follows:
– no meat, except fish occasionally
– no dairy (although I may bend this for my coffee)
– daily walks or bike rides.

I am doing quite a bit of traveling this month so we will see how this goes. The dairy will probably be the hardest since it seems to be in everything that doesn’t have meat in restaurants. I was going to cut alcohol too but decided wine might be the only way I’m getting through this.

So I took Cady with me this morning to the store to get supplies for the next few days. I probably had 100 pounds of groceries on the way home plus Cady. The hardest thing I have with large loads is getting off the centerstand. Anyway, I’m off to Paris in the morning for a short 3-day trip. At least I can have bread while I’m there!
